Do Chiropractors work on anything besides the spine?
Do Chiropractors work on the arms and legs?
What are some common non-spine related issues Chiropractors work on?
Are there solutions for problems with the feet besides having adjustments and soft tissue work?
As a Chiropractor, one thing I’m not the best at and as a profession we’re not very good at…informing others that we work on the extremities (shoulder, hip, knee, ankles, elbows, wrists) ALONG with the spine. I’ve sought out special techniques to work on very common, everyday issues. Those that are afflicted have come to expect their bodies to perform at a certain level they’ve become accustomed to. When this doesn’t happen…depression and frustration often ensue. We’re often labeled as spine specialists, but I see just as many, if not more, non-spine related issues. A lot of the clients that come see me are very active and want to stay that way. Some want to achieve personal records with this or that. Others just want to maintain and not feel limited as time goes on.
Common issues that afflict those that are very active or those with repetitive motion injuries: plantar fasciitis, golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, runner’s knee, frozen hip or shoulder, carpal tunnel…any of these sound familiar? A lot of times adjustments and soft tissue work can go a long way to helping these types of conditions out. Has Physical Therapy, injections, just giving it time, and/or pain medications not quite got you to where you want to be…giving Chiropractic a chance to help may be the next step.
Orthotics (“pillows for the feet”): Custom-made spinal stabilizers; these balance the pelvis & legs, a lot of times alleviating pain & symptoms. They provide cushioning for the feet in 4 different areas: ball of the foot, arch, outer edge of foot, and heel.
Orthotics can be used in sneakers, dress shoes, high heels, and they’re even made to fit into custom-made sandals (variety of choices).
A lot of times an insurance policy covers 1 or 2 pairs, if you think this may be something helpful for you, bring it up to Dr. Harrison at your next visit and we’ll look into it for you. If self-pay is the only option for you, you’ll notice that our costs are less than most.
